Mustang MACH-E
This car has been a long time coming; this is Ford's first fully electric car. Interestingly they've chosen to have the galloping pony on the front rather than the run of the fill Ford oval. But is it worth it? lets find out....
Front End - The obvious thing first....It has a huge bonnet! and the bonnet has some lovely humps? bumps? which makes it look on par with the normal mustang. Not a bad effort in my opinion. Then we move on to the lights, the headlights are actually pretty cool too. It looks like wolverine scraped them while being run over by the car. Pretty agressive, I like it.
The grill... hmm;
[off-topic] Why do electric car manufaturers insist on ommitting grills from electric cars? You have the likes of Mercedes, BMW and Volvo putting in fake exhausts, fake air vents and cooling ducts on ICE (internal combustion engine) cars and all in the name of looks and aesthetics. So why is it that electric car manufaturers are wedded to this strange habbit of omitting grills from the front? have they not heard of the phenomenon of anthropomorphism; where humans intrinsically try to project human face features on inanimate objects? I guess we’ll never know
[on-topic] Anyway, the point is there is no grill and it makes the whole thing look silly from the front. To add to the misery they have also added a cheap plastic bit which kind of looks like El Bandito’s moustache. Remember anthropomorphism?. Other than that it has a frunk which I suppose is good for when you reverse park against a wall at a Tesco car park.
Not much else to say about the front. All in all a mixed bag.
Back - The back is acually pretty cool. The rear lights are what looks like straight out of a Mustang. The clearance from the ground is pretty decent and the tail hatch is even automated. So a much better story round the back. Obviously no exhausts, the number plate seems to be in the right place and the rear window seems to be well positioned too.
Interior - This is where it gets daring, very daring indeed! Gone are the Ford horizontal straight from the 90s display and in comes the new "vertical"(read Tesla model S copy) display. It looks decent. There is a huge knob in the middle for those who like to get physical with their screens. The knob is actually similar to what you find in Range Rover Velar only theres only one knob here. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard here. The materials are not as premium however it is acceptable. The front dash is all digital now as well, slightly smaller rectangular screen. Theres also optional sun roof.
Verdict - I think its a decent car. Theres a slight stigma of it actually being a Ford and Mustang badge is only there to attract buyers. However, I think you can choose to look past that and then its a pretty decent electric.
